Does My Child Need a speech and language evaluation in Moreno Valley?
Is your little one struggling to chat away like their peers or maybe not catching on to words and phrases as quickly as you thought they would? It's perfectly natural to have a whirlwind of questions and concerns swirling around. You might be wondering, 'Why isn't my child talking as much as others their age?' or 'Should I be worried that they're not following instructions well?' It could be as simple as noticing they seem a bit more puzzled during storytime than their siblings did at the same age. If these kinds of observations are nudging at your heart, you're in the right place.
We want to reassure you that these questions and observations are important, and you're taking a significant first step in seeking the best for your child's development. Our speech and language evaluation services are designed to be thorough, compassionate, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. Through our evaluations, we aim to identify any challenges your child may be facing and provide you with a clear path forward. Our goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to express themselves confidently and interact effectively with the world around them.

communication milestones
Navigating the world of communication with your little one can be a journey filled with wonder, surprises, and, sometimes, a few bumps along the way. Especially for our kiddos taking unique paths in speech and language development, every little "hello," giggle, or word can feel like a major milestone—and it is! Understanding communication milestones gives us a map to celebrate the victories, big and small, and to recognize when a little extra support might make all the difference. Whether your child is babbling away, stringing words together, or somewhere in between, you're not alone on this adventure. Let's explore these milestones together, with lots of love and encouragement, understanding that every child’s journey is beautifully unique.
Birth to 1 Year Old
Birth-3 Months: Coos, makes gurgling sounds, turns head towards sounds.
4-6 Months: Babbling sounds more speech-like with many different sounds, including p, b, and m, chuckles and laughs.
7 Months-1 Year: Babbling has both long and short groups of sounds such as "tata upup bibibibi"; uses speech or non-crying sounds to get and keep attention; uses gestures to communicate (waving, holding arms to be picked up); imitates different speech sounds; has one or two words (hi, dog, dada, mama) around first birthday, although sounds may not be clear.
2 to 3 years
Has a word for almost everything; uses two- or three-word phrases to talk about and ask for things; speech is understood by familiar listeners most of the time; often asks for or directs attention to objects by naming them.
4 to 5 years
Voice sounds clear like an adult's; tells stories that stay on topic; communicates easily with other children and adults; uses full sentences and understands almost all speech at home and in other settings; can say most sounds correctly except a few like l, s, r, v, z, ch, sh, th; uses the same grammar as the rest of the family.
1 to 2 years
12-18 Months: Says several single words (by 15 to 18 months); uses simple gestures, such as shaking head for "no" or waving for "bye-bye".
18-24 Months: Begins to use two-word meaningful phrases (such as "more milk"); follows simple instructions; recognizes names of familiar people, objects, and body parts.
3 to 4 years
