How can a licensed educational psychologist help my child?

A Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) is a professional who specializes in understanding the complex relationship between learning, behavior, and emotional development within the educational setting. They are uniquely qualified to assess students' strengths and challenges, offering tailored interventions to support children with diverse learning and emotional needs. For parents of special education children, an LEP can be a vital resource, providing insights and strategies to enhance their child's educational experience.

If you’re a parent looking for a second opinion, or Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), for your child, an LEP like those with Team ACES could offer instrumental help in getting your voice heard and making positive change in your child’s education. By bringing in an LEP for an IEE, you gain access to a fresh perspective, backed by specialized expertise, to ensure that your child receives the most appropriate and effective educational interventions.

The Assessment Process

All of our thorough and professional reports are completed within the legal guidelines of 60 days from the date of a signed assessment plan. We aim to have the report ready as soon as 3 weeks after the initial contact.

Full Background and Record Review

We will begin by going over your child’s background information (provided by both you and the school), and all the other relevant documents. This gives us a solid understanding of the underlying challenges and guides us how to support you in the best possible way.

Interviews and Testing

To make sure that we have a clear picture of what is going on, we will interview you, your child, school personnel close to your child, and any other family, friends, or professionals that can give us insight into your child’s situation. We will also observe your child in their educational setting. During the testing phase, we’re going to assess your child in a safe and comfortable setting utilizing the most cutting-edge testing materials and strategies.

Report and Meeting

Once we have gathered all the necessary documents, we will work on writing a detailed report with clear goals and recommendations. We will schedule a meeting with you to go over our report, explain our findings and recommendations, and answer any questions you might have. You will leave the meeting with clarity and an expert report in your hand.
